  • Dr. Prill represents our field at international convention in Australia

    Senftenberg. Dr. Prill will be attending a meeting to standardize outcome measures on knee TEP from 21 to 25 May at the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) meeting in Terrigal, Australia. The initiative is focused on standardizing outcome measures in rheumatic diseases worldwide to better compare treatment outcomes.

    Zgorzelec. Prof. Michel became the "24th International Day of the Handicapped 2018 "again awarded the" Ruby Heart "of the Polish Society for Rehabilitation of Disabled People.

  • Appointed to scientific committee

    Senftenberg. Prof. Michel was on 19.12.2017 in the international scientific committee of the "24. International Day of the Handicapped 2018 "in Zgorzelec, Poland. This meeting is the largest of its kind in Europe and is under the patronage of the Polish Ministers of Health and Education.

    Senftenberg.   • New therapy devices in the MTT laboratory

    Senftenberg. From now on new therapy devices are available for the training of academic physiotherapists. The existing ASA equipment park was replaced by the state-of-the-art system of the US-American Hoist Group as well as by a multifunctional cable of the company Stolzenberg.

    Senftenberg. In the course of the meeting of former graduates, OSL District Administrator Sigurd Heinze visited our laboratories on 23.09.2017 and together with Prof. Michel presented innovative developments in the field of health technology.

  • The International Disabled People`s Day - 23th edition

    Zgorzelec. From the 23rd to the 26th of March 2017, our department will be taking part in the 23rd International Day of the Disabled and its congresses "Life without Pain", "Healthy Children - Healthy Europe" and "No more Amputation" with 5 lectures and 1 poster. Scientists, therapists and doctors from 5 continents are expected to attend. Prof. Michel will also be represented as a member of the Scientific Committee. The 23rd International Day of the Disabled is under the patronage of Konstanty Radziwill (Health Minister of Poland) and Prof. Dr. med. hab. Jerzy Duszynski (President often Polish Academy of Science).

  • Appraiser for re-accreditation

    Stuttgart. On March 21, 2017, Prof. Michel was appointed by the Executive Board of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University as external assessor for the dual bachelor degree programs "Physiotherapy" and "Interprofessional Health Care".

    Senftenberg. On 18.01.2017, the new clinic director of the University Hospital for Angiology, Prof. Dr. med. med.   • Sängerstadt-Gymnasium Finsterwalde to guest

    Senftenberg. This year our department organizes the specialist symposium of the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine (IAOM), which takes place in Senftenberg on 29.10.2016.

  • Cooperation with ITM of the University of Excellence TU Dresden

    Dresden. During his visit to the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM) of the TU Dresden, Prof. Michel agreed with Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dipl.-Wirt. Ing. Chokri Cherif, ITM Director, a long-term research collaboration in the field of intelligent textile medical devices. We are especially looking forward to this cooperation. Prof. Cherif is one of the world's most renowned textile researchers.

    Senftenberg. An automated lifter is now available for the training of academic physiotherapists. The innovative combination of the free-moving barbell with a sophisticated virtual load simulation, the new device offers the possibility of a high-security training therapy without having to give up the functional advantages of a "free barbell".   • Contribution to the study orientation week of the BTU CS

    Senftenberg. From July 11 to 15, 2016, students not only learned about theoretical study content and procedures, but also actively tested their skills in small projects and experiments.     Deggendorf. On 13th and 14th of July 2016, Prof. Michel again acts as expert reviewer of the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) at the Technical University Deggendorf (Free State of Bavaria). The focus is on the assessment of M. Sc. Medical Informatics and B. Sc. Applied Training Science (dual).

  • Lecture on the endoprosthetics forum

    Hamburg. For this year's Forum of the AG Endoprosthetics (17.06.2016, Congress Center Hamburg), our field is represented with a keynote lecture. The forum is under the motto "Individualization in Orthopedics and Traumatology". Mr. Prill and Prof. Michel will talk about "Individual patient-specific physiotherapy: Cost-efficient or unnecessarily expensive?".

  • Graduation as riding therapist

    Senftenberg. Fr. Vorwerg, B. Sc. PT has successfully completed her training as riding therapist on 10.06.2016. "I congratulate Fr. Vorwerg very warmly and I am pleased that one of our new research areas is experiencing tremendous impulses," notes Prof. Michel.

  • Open day at the Hoyerswerda Lake Land Hospital

    Hoyerswerda. On the 4th of June 2016, an open day with over 5,000 visitors took place at the largest full-scale hospital in the region and at the same time the academic teaching hospital of the TU Dresden (University of Excellence). In the course of their training, the students of physiotherapy (dual study program) supported, among other things, the above mentioned organization in the organization and with various health offers. For example, they performed a cardioscan and an analysis of the body composition on more than 500 persons, which are now scientifically evaluated in the accompanying lecture.

    Senftenberg. In the course of the research project "Development of a test procedure for ability-oriented risk assessment of the knee joint after anterior cruciate ligament rupture", the ethics committee of the Federal Association for Physiotherapy (ZVK eV) issued a positive opinion on 12.05.2016.

  • Managing Director of the Seenlandklinik Hoyerswerda takes on a teaching assignment

    Senftenberg. From the summer semester 2016 Mr. Dipl.-Kfm. (Univ.) Jörg Scharfenberg, Managing Director of the Seenlandklinik Hoyerswerda, a lecturer for special aspects of hospital management. Prior to managing the above-mentioned clinic, Mr. Scharfenberg worked for the performance and quality development of the Swiss AMEOS Group, which operates clinics, nursing and integration facilities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Previously, he worked in the Saxon Switzerland Clinic, where he held the position of CEO for less than five years.

    Bonn. On March 8, 2016, Prof. Michel was appointed by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation - Swiss Foundation (FIBAA), under the leadership of MDg. a. D. Dr. jur. Birger Hendriks, appointed as a reviewer.

  • Motor skills of children and adolescents in Greater Dresden

    Dresden. The city sports federation Dresden invites on 26.02.2016 for the evaluation of the day of the German sport badge. Under the guidance of Ms. Nitscher, physiotherapy students will present current results from more than 3,000 children and adolescents from different types of Greater Dresden to the categories endurance, strength and coordination.

    Senftenberg. The construction and use of our 3D biofeedback laboratory has been approved by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. For the report submitted in this respect, a positive vote was given after a review by letter dated 11.02.2016.

    Cottbus / Senftenberg. As part of the implementation of the Higher Education Development Plan, all professorships and independent working groups will in future use the term subject area denomination. The subject areas are led by the previous professors or working group leaders. As of 01.01.2016, our professorship bears the name Fachgebiet Therapiewissenschaften II and is headed by Prof. Michel.

On November 13, 2015 (6:00 pm, SR 1.210, Campus Senftenberg), Mr. Dimitri Reder lectures on the lateral elbow pain and deals with the question of whether there is always a tennis elbow in this respect.     Hannover / Enschede. On October 15, 2015, Prof. Michel was appointed consultant and expert by ZEvA Expert. Under the direction of Prof. em. Dr. Hans E. Roosendaal, Department of Strategic Management at the University of Twente (Netherlands), advises and assesses this society at all levels of its management and / or at the same time takes responsibility for the purpose of interim management.     Senftenberg. A "class reunion" of a special kind took place on 15.09.2015. Twenty graduates, who completed their engineering studies at the then Senftenberg engineering school more than 60 years ago, met at the Senftenberg campus to learn about new technological possibilities in the field of medicine.   • New research project on the motor and health of children and adolescents started

    Senftenberg. In the 8th edition (2015) of the scientific journal Manual Medicine, our current study results on the reliability of common measurement methods for the determination of sagittal knee joint mobility were published.

  • Knee study: results published internationally

    Senftenberg. In the 10th edition (2014) of the scientific journal Archives of Budo, our current study results on the influence of different throwing techniques in judo on injuries of the knee joint are published. In collaboration with sports scientists from the German Sport University Cologne 260 judoka were analyzed and included in the study.

    Berlin. At the beginning of the winter semester, Prof. Michel was appointed as an external member of the founding senate of the University of Applied Pedagogy Berlin (HSAP). The Senate is the highest body of a college, providing legislative, advisory, strategic, controlling and executive functions.   • Polar V800: state-of-the-art heart rate analysis

    Senftenberg. For the most up-to-date heart rate analysis in the field of field research, 10 of the latest V800 Polar watches are now available in the sports medicine laboratory.     Senftenberg.     Senftenberg. As of January 15, 2014, a new spiroergometry measuring station (Meta Control 3000, from CORTEX Biophysik GmbH) is available in the sports medicine laboratory. This is supplemented with a multifunctional couch of the brand XRCISE STRESS ECHO. This is a 4-in-1 lounger, which consists of an adjustable examination couch and a swing-out ergometer. Thus, it can be used for a lying or half-lying spiroergometry and additionally by remote control for dynamic stress echocardiography.

    Senftenberg. On November 20, 2013, a Polish delegation from the University of Zielona Gora visited the Chair of Therapeutic Sciences I. Under the direction of Dean Prof. Dr. med. habil. Ewa Narkiewicz-Niedbalec discussed the delegation with Prof. Michel various cooperation opportunities in the field of teaching and research. In the area of the new health programs, the joint design of modules and the application for an EU project were agreed. A next workshop will take place in February 2014 at Zielona Gora University.

    Senftenberg. In the course of the annual chief medical conference of Klinikum Niederlausitz GmbH, the visit of our new laboratory building was on the program this year. For this purpose, the leading physicians of the full-length clinic visited our diagnostically oriented laboratories, carried out their own experiments and exchanged views with Prof. Michel on future joint projects.

  • 3D body scanner put into operation

    Senftenberg. For a faster and more precise anthropometry, a state-of-the-art 3D body scanner from Vitronic is now available in the biomechanics laboratory. It can completely scan and measure the human body in laser-assisted manner over 15 seconds with over 500,000 measuring points.

  • First-semester greetings by Head of Unit of the Ministry of Science

    Senftenberg. The first semester students started their studies on 01.10.2013 in the new primary qualifying health study programs and were warmly welcomed by the Head of Unit - Universities - of the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Mrs. Karin Melzer. The BTU Cottbus - Senftenberg has a unique selling point with the two study programs newly established for the winter semester 2013/14: The study of nursing science concludes with a bachelor's degree and at the same time a professional qualification in health and nursing care or care for the elderly. In addition to the academic bachelor's degree, the study of therapeutic sciences also leads to a professional qualification in physiotherapy.

    Senftenberg. In a letter of 05.08.2013, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft has approved a grant application from Prof. Michel in the amount of EUR 307 000.00.

  • 3.2 million annually

    Senftenberg. For the creation and establishment of new courses of study in the field of health and care professions, the state of Brandenburg provides additional funds of 3.2 million a year. "I regard this as a clear signal that we were able to convince with our previous work at the Senftenberg site," says Prof. Michel.

  • New health programs approved

    Senftenberg. With the last workshop at the Ministry of Health, Environment and Consumer Protection in Potsdam, the degree programs developed by Prof. Knigge-Demal and Prof. Michel were adopted on 05.09.2013. There were also representatives of the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture as well as the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Women and Family at the negotiating table. Thus, a first milestone was reached, which was characterized by the main task to bring the Brandenburg University Law in line with the professional laws and to agree a common approach with the various supervisory authorities. For the upcoming freshers, this means that their respective selected health study programs are also approved by stately or ministerial side.

  • Health technology project approved

    Senftenberg. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology approved a new R & D project on 29.03.2013 for the development of a sensor-based cooling system for cold application in orthopedic and traumatological indications. In total, a total of around € 575,000.00 will be available for the project over the next two years.

  • Minister of Science opens new laboratory building for physiotherapy

    Senftenberg. Just in time for the winter semester 2012/13, Brandenburg's Minister of Science, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr. Sabine Kunst solemnly our new laboratory building.
